The Tao of Groove returns – 22 years after their impactful debut
The Tao of Groove is an underground collaborative project headed up by Los Angeles producer Roy Shakked. Their one and only album, Fresh Goods, was released 22 years ago. The eclectic, loungey, mostly instrumental release received airplay from major radio stations including KCRW and caught the attention of music supervisors who placed its tracks on shows such as Sex and the City, The OC and CSI Miami.
Shakked has since moved into composing for TV and the project went untouched until earlier this year, when he decided to delve into his collection of rare samples and experiment with some new ideas. The result is a brand new Tao of Groove album entitled LoFi Adventures, which will be released later this year. Featuring a solid groove, intriguing chord progressions and delectable lo-fi sonic textures, “Like You Mean It” is the first taste of what to expect.
