LA Priest

LA Priest
LA Priest is the moniker of Sam Eastgate. A former member of UK dance-punk outfit Late of the Pier, he rose to prominence with his Connan Mockasin collaboration Soft Hair in 2016. His second solo album, GENE was released earlier this month.

Frank Black – Los Angeles
I really love how Frank Black writes songs that scream and whisper at the same time. Somehow didn’t discover this until recently.

Colour Box – The Moon Is Blue
1985, what a great year! Let’s bring back emotion in music.

Crosby, Stills & Nash – Helplessly Hoping (studio outtakes)
I would never have noticed the original version of this song but this one caught my ear because of the pedal guitar and interweaving vocal/guitar parts. Shows how good they were at recording considering they didn’t even release this version.

Xenoula – Deer Ron
A really underrated instrumental, it really deserves a comment on YouTube.

Four Tet – Morning Side
I find it hard to listen to most songs for more than a minute but I made it about halfway through this one. The combination of heartfelt Indian vocals and understated electronics is a good way to do it.
