Dan Webb returns with new psychedelic jazz rock fusion track “Hungry Ghosts”
Australian Award-nominated composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Webb returns with “Hungry Ghosts” — featuring drummer Clive Deamer (Radiohead, Portishead), keyboardist Dennis Hamm (Thundercat) and guitarist Bob Lanzetti (Snarky Puppy). A driving instrumental psychedelic jazz-rock fusion track, it explores themes of transformation, displacement and reinvention.
The inspiration draws from Webb’s relocation from Melbourne to Singapore in 2023, where he found a powerful creative metaphor in the city’s annual Hungry Ghost Festival — a Buddhist tradition centred on spirits, remembrance and the space between worlds.
Blending adventurous jazz improvisation, a driving synth bassline and cosmic keys, the track will resonate with fans of Jimi Hendrix, Thundercat, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Miles Davis’s electric period.
The single is accompanied by a music video featuring visuals generated entirely within Webb Warp – a free, synesthetic browser application designed and built by Webb that allows users to manipulate audio stems into reactive 3D audiovisual artworks in real time, without the use of AI.
Webb has spent nearly two decades forging a singular creative path, and is now entering his most ambitious era yet — defined by high-calibre international collaborations and bold new creative directions.
