Sungenre
Here’s five tracks as chosen by talented London singer/songwriter and producer Chelou, ahead of the release of his debut album Out of Sight on April 26.

The album this track is the title to became the soundtrack to my life in the summer 10 or so years ago. Every time I listen to it I’m filled with nostalgia for lazy days spent with my buddies playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, before life became too serious and simple pleasures like a sexy guitar lick could see you through sunny afternoons.

Leonard Cohen – Chelsea Hotel
For me this is just the perfect love song. There’s so much truth and beauty in his description of the fleeting moments of intimacy that are shared between two star-crossed lovers.

alt-J – Something Good
This album dropped while I was spending every day pulling my hair out in the library trying to write my dissertation in the final year of university. At the time I wasn’t writing much music and gave me a well needed kick up the ass to get back into the studio.

Aphex Twin – Alberto Balsalm
This tune really got me in to electronic music. It’s dark, moving and subtle and pushed me to start experimenting with new sounds and dynamics in my production.

Angel Olsen – Lonely Universe
This song is so honest and the story so sad, but with a prevailing hope surrounding it that reassures you there’s light at the end of the tunnel even after the darkest hours. I believe music helps people overcome tragedy and I respect this artist so much for sharing this moment in her life with us through song.
