Here’s 5 tracks as chosen by Mikel Salvador, drummer of Sydney garage rock band Crocodylus, following the release of their new single “Ghosts”.

Super new discovery as I was looking to get into more Turkish/Anatolian psych rock to expand the pallet I’ve been cultivating since I was about 15. It’s cool to hear something different but familiar in terms of instrumentation and of course spoken language!

Mulatu Astatke – Tezeta (Nostalgia)
Actually found this on Spotify while looking for “Tezeta” by King Gizzard, happy accident! My favourite song to relax to – I usually let the whole album play though to extend the relaxation. Especially on tour when your ears are ringing, arms aching and adrenaline has whittled down back to fatigue (laughs). Grab a book, get into your undies and sit in bed before sleep takes you.

Riz Ortolani – Cannibal Holocaust (Main Theme)
This song comes in and out of my life so frequently, I’ll listen to it religiously, like 30+ times a day for about a week and then drop it for another couple of months. It’s beautiful, but has a hint of demonic horror right underneath the surface. It’s like a painting that is unnerving when looked at for too long.

John Prine – Angel From Montgomery
Impeccable highway song. Could listen to his singing forever, his wordplay is unparalleled, always uncover new things when listening to John’s music. Plus I love pretending I’m some sort of rural person despite inhabiting a city for 100% of my life.

Fat White Family – Oh Sebastian
Such a beautiful song, almost always cry when those first choir vocals start going. This whole album is such an amazing comeback in my eyes, absolutely love the new songs and glad they are all (somewhat) healthier.
