Fruit & Nut are a four piece post-punk outfit from Melbourne, Australia. Three years ago, hot on the heels of their debut album, they set about recording three new songs for a 7″ pressing. The recordings were never released – until now.
Each track serves as a new chapter in a story, guitarist and vocalist Luke Dawson explains. On the first track, “The seaside town of Fairchild Heights is home to JJ Gerhardt, whose fantasies of bright colours undermine his drab existence.”
In the second, “the mythical beast Aquatarkus rises from the depths to consume the town,” before the final chapter finds the man at the centre of the story lamenting choices he made during his life and hoping “for answers to come”.
